IGNITE Experiential Training: January 22nd – 25th, 2018

Are you tired of the typical classroom or conference type training?  IGNITE Kawarthas Northumberland is different.  The Program, taking place from January 22 – 25, 2018, involves a combination of physical activity, cultural interaction and engaging with companies who are well known and respected in the Explorer’s Edge region of Ontario.  That’s right, we’re traveling! This learning opportunity at beautiful Northern Edge Algonquin in Algonquin Park received rave reviews from those who attended last March.

“Ignite Kawarthas Northumberland was a unique mosaic of experiences that invited each of us to consider what’s possible within our own offerings when you pull together like-minded hearts and souls who appreciate a great story meant to be shared with others.” Jennifer Garland, The Mane Intent Inc.

“The experiential activities and reflective exercises that were a part of the Ignite Kawarthas Northumberland program were among the most well-planned and most effectively delivered teachings that I have had the privilege of participating in. Todd and his staff at Northern Edge Algonquin are not only gracious hosts of the highest caliber, they are truly experts in their field who are able to inspire deeper thinking and creative responses that will help me to build experiential tourism outcomes in our community.” Debra Soule, Economic Development Officer – Arts, Culture and Heritage, City of Kawartha Lakes.

As we continue to invest in Experiential Development as a key priority for our region, we are pleased to offer the “IGNITE” experience which focuses on committing to actions, collaborating between attendees and hands-on experience development at a fraction of the cost.Once again, Kawarthas Northumberland is subsidizing the program cost extensively because we believe in this program and the future impact that the training will have on tourism in our region. For only $575, you will receive 3 days of learning, networking, and enjoying the off-the-grid splendor at award-winning Northern Edge Algonquin. This includes transportation from Peterborough, spectacular farm-to-table meals, hands-on immersive experiences, 3 nights’ accommodation, and memories to last a lifetime. This is a value of over $2100! Applications are due Friday, December 15, 2017, but note that there is a limited number of spaces – only 16! Last year, this program sold out, so be sure to get your application in early to avoid disappointment. The application, which includes more details about the program, can be downloaded here.

March 2016: Making the change from Visiting to Experiencing

In March 2016, over 100 tourism stakeholders attended RTO8’s interactive Experiential Development workshops led by Harvey Sawler. The sessions, held in Cobourg, Lindsay and Peterborough County, gave attendees proven principles, tools and product development formulas to create successful tourism experiences, grow businesses and increase revenues.

“A tourism product is what you buy.
A tourism experience is what you remember!”

“We were very fortunate to have Harvey share his incredible knowledge with our tourism partners and we look forward to seeing new experiences developed and brought to market. With the goal of increasing visitation and revenue for our region, we plan to host another round of experience development workshops in the Fall of 2016.” – Brenda Wood, Executive Director Kawarthas Northumberland.
