Watch for upcoming learning opportunities at the beautiful Northern Edge Algonquin in Algonquin Park.
Are you tired of the typical classroom training, or staring at the same 4 walls trying to generate new, exciting experiences? IGNITE Kawarthas Northumberland offers you the chance to break away from all of that and travel up to the beautiful Northern Edge Algonquin in Algonquin Park. The Program, taking place from January 21 – 24, 2019, involves a combination of physical activity, cultural interaction and engaging with companies who are well known and respected in the Explorer’s Edge region of Ontario as well as your own. Immerse yourself in this one of a kind opportunity specifically designed for rural communities who want to create new and enhanced experiential tourism products.
After finishing the program, you are welcomed into the graduate group where further learning and collaboration happens in our yearly reunion or bi-monthly collaborative coffee meetings.

March 2016: Making the change from Visiting to Experiencing
In March 2016, over 100 tourism stakeholders attended RTO8’s interactive Experiential Development workshops led by Harvey Sawler. The sessions, held in Cobourg, Lindsay and Peterborough County, gave attendees proven principles, tools and product development formulas to create successful tourism experiences, grow businesses and increase revenues.
“A tourism product is what you buy. A tourism experience is what you remember!”
“We were very fortunate to have Harvey share his incredible knowledge with our tourism partners and we look forward to seeing new experiences developed and brought to market. With the goal of increasing visitation and revenue for our region, we plan to host another round of experience development workshops in the Fall of 2016.” – Brenda Wood, Executive Director Kawarthas Northumberland.
