We’re inviting artists within the Kawarthas Northumberland region to get creative and design a wooden paddle that depicts the uniqueness or the history of one of the nine designated Trent-Severn Trail Town (TSTT) communities. The communities are: Campbellford, Hastings, Lakefield, Buckhorn, Bobcaygeon, Lindsay, Fenelon Falls, Coboconk and Rosedale.

Concepts for design should be submitted at bit.ly/tsttpaddleartform. Once received, the design will be reviewed to ensure there are no duplications of design or concept.

Artists with approved designs will be provided with a Beaver Tail Aspen wood paddle 57” in length, created by Redtail Paddle from Campbellford. Artists will also receive a nominal dollar amount for supplies.

The finished paddles will be displayed at Trent-Severn Trail Town Friendly Businesses, community partners, Visitor Centres and Chambers of Commerce & Tourism. Businesses & organizations are responsible for any costs associated with displaying the paddles. Each paddle will have a dedicated page on the Paddle Art Tour website www.tswtrailtown.ca/paddle-art with photos, the artist’s bio and description of the paddle design inspiration. This public art project will run until at least the fall of 2022 to allow local residents and visitors to view the art.

Marketing / Promotion for the Project will include:

  •  Paddles will be featured on the Paddle Art Tour website: www.tswtrailtowns.ca/paddle-art
  • Paddles will be included on the Paddle Art Tour Google map for the entire Trail Town region as well as the individual Trail Town Paddle Art Tour Google Map
  • Paddles will be displayed in local businesses, Tourist offices and community partners who will share information about the paddles.
  • Featured social posts about the paddle/artist/location on TSTT social channels
  • Partners & TSTT communities are encouraged to promote the paddles and use the hashtag #TSTTPaddleArt

Submissions will be reviewed and approved on a first come first served basis. There is a limited number of paddles available.
