Seeking New Members for the RTO8 Board of Directors
Regional Tourism Organization 8 (RTO8) is seeking nominations for new members of its Board of Directors.
A fulfilling tourism leadership opportunity awaits industry leaders. Regional Tourism Organization 8 (RTO8) is now accepting nominations for new members to join its Board of Directors. This RTO8 Board of Directors includes local tourism industry leaders dedicated to the growth and prosperity of Kawarthas Northumberland, driven by a commitment to sustainable and purposeful year-round visitation. Individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply.
RTO8 is seeking industry leaders to fill four vacancies at the Annual General Meeting on June 20, 2024 from the following areas:
➔ City of Peterborough region
➔ Northumberland County region
➔ County of Peterborough region
➔ City of Kawartha Lakes region
Requirements of RTO8 Board Members
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Maintain good standing within the RTO8 organization throughout their term of service, including being engaged and attentive to the business of the Board;
- Attend a minimum of six (6) Board Meetings per fiscal year (April 1 – March 31) – meetings are held on weekday mornings and are approximately one and a half (1.5) hours in length;
- Attend a half day orientation late June and a half day planning session in the Fall along with the AGM;
- Sit on one (1) committee of the board that meets as required virtually;
- Preference will be given to a business owner-operator or individual working within the Kawarthas Northumberland tourism industry.
Responsibilities of RTO8 Board Members
- The development and approval of a strategic plan for the organization including its mission, vision, values, goals, and objectives;
- The approval of an annual business plan detailing the specific actions to be undertaken to meet the objectives set out in the strategic plan;
- The establishment of policy setting out rules, authorities, responsibilities and limitations of those engaged in the work of the organization;
- The preparation and submission of a strategic assessment report to the members at the annual meeting of members and to the Ministry.
Please note:
- This is a governance focused board. Operations are the responsibility of the Executive Director;
- The minimum term of service as a board member is one (1) year. Positions are being sought for one, two, and three-year terms;
- RTO8 Board of Directors Members serve on a voluntary basis.
