WELCOME TO RTO8
Helping Grow Tourism for Kawarthas Northumberland
By 2026, Kawarthas Northumberland communities will be recognized as one of the leading travel destinations in Ontario for experiencing soft outdoor and rural adventure connecting Canadian waterway heritage.
Kawarthas Northumberland will be a destination that drives its visitor economy with balanced and purposeful year-round visitation that meets our current and future capacity and community development needs.
WHY KAWARTHAS NORTHUMBERLAND?
RTO8 exists to support a competitive and sustainable regional tourism industry, attract visitors, generate economic activity and create jobs. We work with industry partners to build up the Kawarthas Northumberland region through experience development, investment, marketing, and workforce development
We’re looking for our next project to bring visitors into communities and public art is a way to do just that. We are asking our Trent-Severn Trail Town committees to submit their ideas for public art within their communities. This can be a mural, statue, sculpture, garden or art installation. It can be in the downtown core, on a waterway facing building, in a park; it’s up to you to think of what would look great in your community and how RTO8 can support the project. Please email your ideas to email@example.com
Calling All Culinary Providers within Kawarthas Northumberland! RTO8 wants to showcase your maple themed culinary products this spring. The region has a number of maple syrup producers that we would like to tap into and offer products for visitors to sample from baked goods, candied appetizers to syrupy entrées and sweet drinks. Let RTO8 know your maple flavoured product to be featured in Kawarthas Northumberland’s spring campaign. Your product will need to be ready or in market by late February and available until the end of May. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your product details.
We are excited to be introducing a suite of bilingual self-paced courses over the fall and winter as we rebuild our industry’s capacity and rebound from COVID-19. RTO8 stakeholders – tourism businesses, organizations, associations, and professionals located within Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough City or County and Northumberland County – will have free access to these courses until March 31, 2022.
Regional Tourism Organization (RTO8) is pleased to offer Acceler8, a community based Business Mentoring Program This program is geared to existing tourism sector businesses within the Kawarthas Northumberland region. The tourism industry was one of the hardest hit by the pandemic and as we focus on recovery, we believe a mentoring program can help your business rebuild and achieve business growth.
